Diff fail!
As I was filling up my differential, a 2-inch piece of plastic tubing slipped inside!
What do I do now! I cannot take the differential apart!

Wait until the differential chews it up into little tiny pieces, then change your fluid again

You have no choice but to pull the diff out. It's not that hard to do.

Beg, borrow or steal a Borescope Endoscope and go fishing with a piece of wire.
These scopes are getting cheaper all the time.

I think removing the diff is going to be the way to go. By now the piece of plastic is probably floating in the oil. That would be very hard to get out through the fill plug hole.

How long would it take the differential to chew it up?

Don't let your differential chew it like a piece of chewing gum.
Drain your differential. Remove the cover. Remove the plastic tube. Clean the contact surfaces and put a new gasket on there. Refill. Enjoy. |

They are just pulling your chain. Don't do this or you could run into even bigger problems. Your best option is to remove the differential like everyone else said. If you are unable or not comfortable with doing this then you should probably call a friend for help or tow it to the shop.
