My question is... These times are all kind of old (reletive to the Camaro), anyone have the details of which car was used?

I remember reading that there was still a lot of tweaking left to be done on the Camaro test mule when these results were posted. Am I wrong?

BTW heres some more times all slower:

I think the best indication of the quality of it's performance is the fact that it beat the E92 335i coupe. A lot of sources say that car is one of the best all around cars in the world. Granted the Camaro has an extra 100 or so hp but it's a recent model car with a supposedly underrated turbo engine and it's known to be very quick. If I could afford it and there was no Camaro coming out, I'd be looking into one of those instead.

But that's all performance. That says nothing about how fun it is to drive. Sometimes people don't realize that because a car can lap a track fast, it can still be unexciting or hard to drive. I hope the Camaro is fun to drive fast.

Understeer is tuned into a chassis to keep the driver safe. That way instead of the rear end unexpectedly coming around on you, the front wheels start to push and let you know to do something about it. Rather than the back end of the car overtaking the front and you panicking and tail sliding into a tree or something. Understeer is considered a lot more manageable than oversteer.

And I agree. It's all too often that people say a car is better because it's faster in a straight line. Although it never can hurt to beat a car in both categories. Just like the Camaro beats the Mustang and Challenger.

I like how one of the comments on the page of that video says "Warning: Running a record setting lap in your GT-R will probably void the warranty"

I think the GT-R is definitely a very fast car considering how big it is. The first comparison tests and the like showed it smashing cars with more hp and less weight in acceleration. But even since that has become less common, it's still outrunning lighter more powerful cars in many track settings.

And I love love love how some fools say "Porsche says their 'ring time is BS and I'm with them."

I think it's hard to believe. But until you drive the car and experience what it can do yourself I don't think it's fair to say it's obviously bs that it ran that time.

And yes. I agree the warranty situation is effed up.

What I think is BS is that they advertise this amazing supercar with great times. But if you ever want to drive it like advertised not only do you void your warranty but possibly blow a transmission. That, sir is true .

But the real story here is that this is my 200th post.

Whoa that GT-R time is questionable at best. At 3900lbs and 480HP (perhaps 507HP) at the flywheel that time is a fantasy, sorry but it is.

Handling is very important to me.

I would like to take the Camaro out to a few track days/auto-x and really give my friends some competition.

A friend of mine has one over here, and his went T/A like 5 days ago. He is livid and I guess he is in contact with some people who are forming a class action lawsuit. He has a r34 as well, it has close to 700HP and it's a stock tranny. It's funny how a foreign car company finally release's their super car in america and it is a gayed down version.

One of the first mods I do to my SS will be an upgraded suspension (lowered too). I'm leaning towards a Peddlers system.
