I thought that the SS's were going to be built last, after the V6's. I have seen several threads now with people saying that their V8 SS's were being delivered in the next 2 weeks. I only ask because I thought that I needed to wait until August for my SS. I am #2 on my dealer's orders and the #1 SS. Can someone clear this up for me.

they have been making alot of them not sure exact number but you should look for the vin thread and check that out...

I ordered my 2SS on March 13th, my dealer told me that I should get it in 8 to 12 weeks. I am hearing a lot of different time frames of my car arriving. Does anyone have any ideas of when it might show. Thanks

I ordered mine in early February. I was expecting a 6 month wait but was surprised when he told me AFTER I ordered it that it would take only about 4 months.

When I talked to him a couple of days ago he told me to expect it in mid to late April (3 months, or only about 3-4 weeks from today).

In October, my dealer tried to talk me into a V6 because the V8's would likely not even come out this year......

.......boy was he wrong on that one.

GM must have told the dealers (early-on) that the V6's were coming first..... but then....then all of a sudden.....they decided to build a bunch of V6's for the showrooms, and ended up putting the sold order V6's on constraint.

It makes since that the V8's would go first because ~80% of the orders were for the V8's..... and they generate more revenue.

What I dont understand is why they had the dealers tell the customers that the V8's would be majorly delayed in the first place.....maybe your dealer hasn't got the update.

I was told by my dealer that they switched production over to SS's because of the amount of SS orders they received. The ratio was higher than anticipated.

Don't know how accurate that info is???

So I see the vin list on here last night and see that my dealer has 7 SS's in the first 1200 vin #'s but not mine that was supposed to be his first SS ordered. I make a call and they tell me that there isn't and rhyme or reason to how GM is pulling the orders. Mine was #2 on his list with a #1 priority (whatever that means). Of his 7 SS's coming in, they are all stock orders and they have sold 3 to another dealer that is selling @ $5k over invoice. If I want one of the other 3 then I can have it at my same deal which was MSRP. I want what I ordered so I guess I will just need to wait. I wasn't expecting mine until August anyway so no big deal. At least I will be able to see one before mine arrives.

I wonder if their offer extends to the Black, Vin # 006 car that they have coming.......Hmmmmm maybe I should have asked.

The rhyme and reason is so they can cash in on the early demand before selling you yours at MSRP.

No surprises here , there is a poll somewhere and the ratio of V8 orders to V6 order was in the realm of .....i think like 7 or 8 out of every 10 preorders were SS orders , over 400 reporting . Why wouldnt GM focus on V8 output eh ?

(I gave up and got a GT500) 5/11/09 - order cancelled 5/27/09 - vehicle arrived at dealership for whoever bought it after me
