So...found the rattles. The big washers on the underside of the fender wells weren't tightened all the way up..easy fix.
Now for the funny one...some of us need special help...they call them directions.
So I partially installed a new sound system in the 69 and used a dish towel under the stereo as a wedge until I used that erector set looking metal strip to secure the ass end. Put it back in storage until I could find time to finish. But low and behold, when I was installing the same stereo in my 66 Caprice, I noticed the directions said you bend out these triangular tabs on the stereo sleeve to secure it to the dash face frame. Being a guy from the old school of post type installations, this was such a revelation.
So, last Saturday night I grabbed the 69 and bent the tabs and holy crap that worked good; secured it like concrete!! Funny the things they hide in those papers called directions! All rattles gone...what an incredible car!
