Dirty Pictures

Okay, you are a perv for even clicking on here with that title. What did you THINK you were going to see?

Dirtiest by far that my Camaro has ever been. Yesterday, my buddy and I were out on a dry lake bed in the SoCal Desert, and there was no choice in the matter: We had to get sideways, slideways, lateral, and high speed. We hauled ass, took turns building roostertail walls 30 feet high around each other. We tore that shit up. Camaro and Challenger... good times.

(In spite of what a couple of pics look like, that was totally dry lake bed (perhaps you've seen the news for SoCal's drought?). The chunks are NOT mud, but are just dirt clods of fine dust clinging to the car... try not to have nightmares.)

So far today, I have spent four hours on cleaning. It's 90% clean. The next 8% will take another four hours, and the last 2% may never come clean. However, by the end of today, unless you disassemble parts, you will not be able to tell it was ever this dirty.

Mine is not a show car, a prim and proper poodle with bows in its fur; mine is a car, meant to be driven, ridden hard and put away wet. I work it hard, but take care of it afterwards. It's washed and waxed monthly, vacuumed almost daily. I buy Armor- All by the 55- gallon drum, and Turtle Wax sends me Christmas cards. The oil industry loves that I've helped put their kids through college, and tire companies have changed rankings based upon what brand I am buying. The meticulous maintenance religiously performed, though, has ensured that in 84,000 miles, it hasn't broken on me yet... try as I might. However... this is BY FAR the dirtiest this thing has ever been, or will probably ever be.

Damn. Looks like fun.

Might as well just order a new cabin air filter and engine air filter now.

Yeah, those filters were bad... oddly, my buddy's Challenger apparently clogged up so badly, so quickly that his rig began overheating. Ambient was only 80 F., and we were only out there for 10 minutes at the most.

Yeah, well... we all KNOW which is the better car...

Yup... some kid had to grab a fingerful right off the back bumper of the Challenger... hope it waxes/ buffs out.

And if not for that finger trail, I'd sell the pic to Dodge...

Frigging cool! Consider changing your oil too. Silica is sneeky.

Excellent guess (did El Mirage a few weeks ago, in the Suburban). No, this was "Giant Rock," (clever name... there's a GIANT ROCK next to the lakebed), out near Landers...

Good idea... hadn't even thought of that yet, but you ARE correct about that sneaky grit.

Although drifting/spinning on a dry lake bed sounds like fun, there's NO WAY I'd ever do that to my car. You'll never be able to remove all the fine dust. The only thing in your advantage is your car is yellow. The dust is less noticeable in the door jambs, undercarriage, underhood, etc since your car is yellow. Your buddy with the black Challenger is screwed though.
I would try to pressure wash all the dirt off the suspension components and undercarriage. Good luck selling your car to a guy like me. A dirty suspension is an automatic "NO" for me when I'm looking for a car.
