Take it down the road and see if it does the same thing in 2 gear. No way this should be happening and no way this is built into the cars software.

Something is wrong with that transmission internally. It's not a synchro, as that would come into play when shifting into a gear but has nothing to do with it staying in gear. It almost sounds like one of the gears has the teeth cut wrong. Most likely, they just need to replace the transmission.
My thoughts also, a poorly set up TR6060 and or a wrong cut gear. Maybe 1st gear was put in backwards? is that even possible?

+1

Make the customer right under warranty. Swap the trans and send to GM for inspection. Report back what you find out.

Take the Ford transmission/clutch out and put in a T6060. REAL men prefer them.

It's a manual so it already has your "Real Man" transmission.

Don't think that is possible. Any gears I have ever worked on where that kind of orientation was important were double-indexed, making it impossible to install backwards.

Don't think this is a troll. A bit too many details in the request. This dealership is near Morgantown, WV:
https://www.team1auto.com/

Also, the way the reluctor is "attached" to the transmission output shaft is arguably a bad design. It is this way on all years of our Camaro. The reluctor should have been splined. Instead it fits on the output shaft like a washer. As soon as the compressing nut becomes slightly loose it can spin. Initially it takes higher rpm for the car to notice the discrepancy between input and output speeds. As it gets looser, you will get the "clutch slip" notification at lower rpm.

GM has authorized a new manual transmission under warranty. Thanks for the replies. I see some pretty knowledgeable members on here. We just hadn’t seen anything like this before

I guess we don’t have qualified/experienced techs to work on our cars at the dealerships anymore.

Haha, you have taken tranny comments to a new level... now nothing but the TR-6060 is the mansmission, eh? How about the 3160 in the lower Camaro trims, does that qualify or is it a teenage boy tranny? (I did research the Getrag and it seems to be nicknamed getrash for a reason, but it's still a manual, isn't it )

Feel free to roast me with my 8L90
