Maximum capacity for 6L80 transmission on 5th gen
Hello, I am currently building my L99 engine which contains a vortech V-3 si trim S/C.... After the build I am expecting to get around 750 hp and somewhat 750 tq ...which is the max on the V-3... (later swapping for V-7 :-P ) my question is will my tranny handel 750 hp with just the addition of a powerful tranny cooler ?! (not too rough driving )
Has any1 done anything similar..... ? Any support is appreciated... Thxx |

NO. Your going to smoke 4th, 5th & 6th gear clutches. 550 hp/torque are its limits, it will live for a little while at slightly above that with gentle driving, but at 750 it will start slipping on the first dyno pull. It's just down hill from there, have it built before you smoke it, it will cost less.

urr2slo is correct. There are some that have outlasted that but dont bet on it.
You need a good trans tune no matter what due to the pulse width that allows the "comfortslip" when shfting. |
