ZL1 Windshield

Im wondering if any of you have had the necessity of replacing the windshield on the ZL1? I dont know if its going to be more expensive because of the HUD. It seems like it has a special film right where it projects, or do you all think even a v6 windshield would work lol Im asking because I dont want to be ripped off because its "special"

I've had mine replaced. It is a special glass for the HUD, it will be blurry without it. Mine chipped with one month of getting the car, I have glass coverage on my insurance but they wanted to install an aftermarket windshield because I didn't have OEM replacement part coverage! I told them no way and you will replace it with an oem one, I had to split the difference (90 bucks) between the two. I think the price was around 600 bucks.

Joe, who told you it was a "special glass" for an HUD? I paid 365.00 for a replacement windshield. I have the HUD and it works the same as it did with the original windshield. I did a side by side of the original and the replacement and with the exception of of not having the GM logo on the windshield they were identical. GM doesn't make windshields anyway.

Wow that is strange isn't it? I checked the HUD several minutes ago and it's the same display as always and clear. It obviously is coated. I did find it interesting when ordering the windshield from the company the lady said I was the third one they had done recently including her own sister's Camaro. The shape and low profile attract rocks.

I just wanted an oem one, I know gm has 3 different kinds. One plan one, one for HUD and one for HUD and remote start.
