ZL1 vs. GT500 thread deleted?

There was a thread here that did a comparison, and now I can't find the thread.

Was the thread deleted?
If so, can someone please tell me why?

Thanks. Very curious.

There are a ton of threads comparing them. I'm sure that some of them where probably deleted because that topic seems to quickly get out of hand.

you can proabaly still find some info over at svt forums in that ZL1vsGT500 thread that is like 900000000 pages.

there was a guy from that forum that put together the results from every test run in each magazine in a spreedsheet

60-0, slalom, 1/4 mile, lap time, skidpad, etc then scored them all off.

to me the best comparison on these two cars on paper was the Vbox data from randy probts laps at laguna seca. 60-0, skidpad, slalom data IMO is not worth Jack if the car can't put it all together. the overlay the laps and it tells a pretty good story of where the car is carrying the speed.

It just outlined the reality of the cars one has good power and great handling and one good handlign and great power.

there still has to be some thread on this board though. search the vs forum as well. there were so many of them last year it was just stupid really.

I commented on the most recent thread, and my comments are gone . . . so I'm assuming the thread is also deleted by a moderator.

I'm curious as to why . . . would like to understand what behavior was bad, etc . . .

They deleted the thread because it's not even a contest.

SVT Performance has a video of a GT500 allegedly taking the Ring at 7:39, two seconds faster than the ZL1's 7:41.

http://jalopnik.com/take-a-terrifyin...g-g-1456107465

Is it credible, or is it not? Some think the timer is suspicious, but it starts at the end of the blue wall, which is the same place the ZL1 video starts, and ends over the line after the bridge before the blue wall, same place the ZL1 video ends.

I thought that the GT500 was a lot harder to handle than the ZL1 was. One wonders what it would take for the Z to get those two seconds.

Since it's been out this is the first time I've seen a Nurburgring time or video for the 13/14 GT500.

it was just posted. I find this ironic

GT500 ~7:39 time
msrp 54,995
tp 2,999
PP 3,450
= $61,444

Zl1 ~7:41 time
msrp 54,995
GG $1300
= $56,295

So for all the bickering that has gone on for the last year in both directions the more expensive car was a tad quicker.

the thing I have alwas found so puzzling between these two car (I like them both) is how one has to be awesome and one has to suck in some peoples minds. I just shows you what tools the internet turns people into.

makes sense to me the Gt500 was a tick quicker around laguna seca it has some long straits.

I would love to see what the base Gt500 would do in things like this. that is what would have been in my budget. 55k was all the cash I could scrap together last year.

I picked up my base GT500 with glass roof for $58K, MSRP on the ZL1 is up near $58k so its gotten closer since GM upped the price on their 14.

msrp on the Zl1 is $55 more. $56,355 gets you a ZL1 GG included

so supplier price on a ZL1 would get you out the door at 54.5k right now.

that was the tipping point for me. all the ford dealers were stuck at MSRP and I got a chevy dealer to go below invoice. that might have changed now though. there are quite a few of both of these cars on the market.

I just have a natural aversion to ever paying MSRP on a car. I can't do it.

Why does the gt500 have to have the PP and TP to be compared to a ZL1? One comes with a factory track pack and the other comes with 662hp. Both are a great deal for @$55k.

My guess is that it was either deleted or merged because we've had numerous threads on the subject of GT500 vs ZL1 ever since that Nurburgring video showed up from SVTperformance.

Small duplicate threads are commonly deleted (often featuring the OP, and a few replies of people providing links or simply saying 'repost').

On the other hand, Camaro vs Mustang threads are sometimes deleted because there is next to nothing worth keeping in the thread -often because of trolling or a 'negative' vibe to it that promotes arguing rather than discussion. And again, if its about a topic that has already been covered in one or more threads its not really a great loss.
