Great write up, it makes the ls3 cam swap look like a breeze.

I wanted to know which type/brand of torque wrenches are you using?
I am looking for one but with so many out there I want to get a good quality one that doesn't break the bank either. Thanks
I didn't break the bank on a torque wrenches, I simply got the Kobalt models that Lowes carries and checked them against one of the SnapOn digitals my father has (had) at his shop and they were with 5% +/-. If my livelihood were turning a wrench I would invest in something of higher quality and durability but the Kobalt units serve me just fine.

Thanks for the info guys.
The snap on is a really nice unit and i'm sure easier to use since it is digital but if i can't find one at a reasonable price i might just go for the kobalt. I'm not a mechanic but i do work on my own cars so i won't need much use out of it. If it worked for robert i'm sure it'll work for me.

The biggest thing is having to remove the heads to replace the lifters. You will need a lot more parts. Texas Speed makes a kit with everything you need. I was also thinking of doing this some day. Since my car is a D/D I would need to do it on a long weekend. I have done the head removal on my LS1 but not a L99. They look pretty much the same.
Here is what I used on my LS1:

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

If I ever decide to put a cam in my car I'll have my dad to help me so I won't need this, but I just wanted to say great job. The attention to detail is astounding, Its so in depth that I'm pretty sure my wife could do it going off of this DIY if she wanted to. I'm sure you have helped people save a good amount of money with this DIY, once again great job and

Maybe a dumb question but if you didn't change the oil pump why did it have to be removed?
