From this mornings Indianapolis Star:

INDY 500 PACE CAR TO BE REVEALED

Will the Corvette take a back seat to another Car at the Indy 500 this year? Past 500 winners Johnny Rutherford, Al Unser Jr., and Eddie Cheever Jr. will help the Indianapolis Motor Speedway unveil the 2009 car at 4:00 PM today. The Chevrolet Corvette has led the starting field every year since 2004. Go to indystar.com to find out which car was picked.

Very interesting! Every Chevrolet Indy pacecar has had a version available to the public. If it is a Camaro, we will probably be able to buy an Indy version.

OK, I'm sticking with CORVETTE on this one....Daytona was different.

Now the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race, I'm leaning back to the Camaro.

Not quite true. They have had many, but not every one. One example would be the 2006 white/red/blue Z06 (that even GM called the "clown car").

Most all the other "Official Cars" that were available for public consumption that year were SSR's.

And I really think that they will use this to market the new Camaro. Will know soon!

Lately the pace cars have been a bit overdone for my taste, but it will be very interesting. My wife really likes the paint scheme on the Dale Earnhardt Jr Camaro; orange/white & black, but clean. We'll see.

I like it, but it would have been nice to see a nice clean White Camaro with Hugger Orange Stripes and inferno orange interior. I agree, the pace cars have been to cluttered up lately. Look at the 69 pace car, that car still looks fantastic, and classic! The graphics package is what seems to date cars.
