I thought the same thing as the ignorant rednecks are talking about flames. If they keep doing that they just might get some as they over-rev the engine into oblivion! What a bunch of idiots! I hope that isn't someone else's car. That's why I buy mine new and get them off the trucks without a dealers chance to do stupid sh** like that to my car.

I cant believe someone would do that to a customers car. Whats even worse is you can tell the car is ice cold just from the popping in the exhaust on decel. I will be waiting at the dealer for my car to show up, luckily i work right down the street from my dealer.

Over rev, bet that was a little over 3K. As for the popping on deceleration that's part of the cars charm, so get used to it. My Boss runs like that and I live it. I get as much fun out of stopping for lights as I do driving away from them. Guess the bowtie boys have forgotten what a real performance motor sound like. This ZL1 sounds perfect.

How bad is it to rev with no load? No reason why I'm asking

Parts move freely inside at those kind of rpms. Without resistance it's just a whiplash effect and as high as the torque is it's not ideal, that might not be necessarily bad for it but is certainly not good for it.

I guess same as bracing yourself for a hit or just getting hit not expecting it kinda.

My car used to throw a code when it would get reved with no load. when I had the header gasket leak. But never throw a code any other time.

This is why I will be at the dealership as mine rolls off the truck. Hopefully the guys at the shipping yards will have already had enough fun with the first 500 and be gentle with mine...
