The V6 looks to take kindly to mods..

So, I had some time on my hands, and did a little bit of digging, it looks like the LLT gained about 31 rear wheel horsepower with JUST and intake and exhaust...

This makes me very confident about the possibility of getting a V6.

Glad to see the 3.6 DI V6 takes kindly to performance mods. Would take some work to get you to the SS V8 level but good to see some improvement is available.

$450 MSRP for the intake? For a tube, folded/molded airbox, filter and parts to attach it all??? I think I'll throw on a K&N filter and call it a day.

These results make me think that a V6 will be a great tuning machine. It might be more worth my time to go for the V6 and add mods as I go. Getting a V8 will take so much longer for me, and I won't get all the options I want for the cost. There's always insurance to consider, too.

Getting a V6 with a name brand exhaust, a cold air intake, headers, and a solid tune could produce over 50 horsepower above stock numbers. That's quite remarkable.

I know the HP is there; it has a few more peak HP at the wheels than my 94 Z28 had and is probably close to the RWHP of my LS1.

But, the average HP over the entire REV range along with the massive low-end torque (and consequently) power, make the V8 my personal choice.

The DI V6 is amazing and I just can't wait for the Gen V V8 and maybe GM V8 DI engine.

don't know what I'm more impressed by, the fact that there is only 13% drivetrain loss or that it gained 31 hp. That puts it at 340 hp and 300tq at the crank and 300tq is my mod benchmark for the camaro.

Lets just hope the aftermarket actually catches on, it would suck to only have 2 or 3 companies to choose from when it comes to tunes, cold air intakes, headers etc.

I'd bet on the following companies off the top of my head.

• AEM
• Altezza
• Borla
• Corsa
• DC Sports
• Diamond
• Flowmaster
• GMPP
• HP Tuners
• Hypertech
• K&N
• Lingenfelter
• Magnaflow
• Procharger
• SLP

Many more are out there. I just thought up this short list.

We can hope, the v6 trim on pony cars hasn't been as popular in the aftermarket in the past. The current v6 mustang is the first car I can think of that has had an aftermarket support that rivals the v8 model.

I bet they are all getting their hands on specs to begin the creation of go fast goodies. You know it guys....GMPP is already beginning to make their aftermarket goodies and there will be a whole lot more at SEMA.

Thanks for posting that Shadowsong. This does actually make me consider getting the V6 over the V8. Cant wait to hear what else it can do and what other companies are making for it.
