Wow thanks for the positive feed back. Basically I bought a piece of wood and black felt from a craft store. The wood is 1/2" thick and I believe it was a 6 x 10" piece for $4.99, then the felt is self adhesive and it was $1.29 which I bought 2 just incase I messed up. The hardest part was to make a template of that center console area. I took some measurements and tried sketching it out, after a few attempts I finally got something cut out of paper that fit that spot. I then traced that outline on to the piece of wood. Fortunately my father has a scroll saw in his basement, I cut out the console cover, sanded, and did a test fit. It was then time for the iphone, I traced the iphone, used the same method to cut that out. I then used a chisel too knock out some wood where the buttons and dock connector are. At this point the iphone would wedge into the spot nicely but a little pressure would easily push it out, so I decided when putting the felt I would fold the felt into the hole instead of cutting it flush. Now the phone is tightly pressed in, I used some electrical tape on the dock and cable to route it out the side under the console lid, and thats it. The phone can easily be removed, but its really not meant to be. The cover itself is held in place by gravity, so it can easily be removed, and thrown in the glove compartment. I pretty much did this since I have and extra phone thats not in use, I was also thinking I could have done it with my ipod instead.
Maybe you guys would like another idea I have, just not sure how to do it yet. I want to make either a pop up, or turn up nav screen that comes from the center speaker spot. I was thinking of using those new super slim garmin's. Any ideas?

Wow, I was not expecting this much positive feed back. Unfortunately Spymaster this was very time consuming, it took me around 5 hours to make. I'm sure someone with some wood working skills could make one and do a better job than I did. Thanks for the comments.

I've been thinking that is a good place to put a gps! Unfortunately, I don't know where to start to take on something that involved and make it look good...
