Well when i first looked at the car I thought that it looked ok but now i see what kind of person Steve Saleen is..... now I really don't care if he builds them and sells them for under sticker of a 2SS, I would not buy one. Thank you.

I dont like it either, but since everyone keeps bringing up Hennesey, I saw first hand what Vengeance Racing did with Hennesey's 001 car!! Might want to look past Hennesey IMO!!

Even if he changes his tune and publicly apologizes to the Camaro community, how do you explain the lack of a Chevy emblem? In my opinion aftermarket companies that respect the Camaro should leave the Chevy insignia on the car. It shows that they remember who originally built it and that they are honored to use it as a platform.

i see 2 things when i look at these renderings

1. a saleen mustang and
2. a saleen challenger

a nice little one size fits all approach. to me, it just has too much of a tacky auto zone feel to actually appreciate it. the whole front end of the car just comes off too busy. maybe it's the use of the stick on buick lacerne fender vents on the hood or the way he uses chrome strips to accent various places on the design

i couldn't care less that the man behind these concepts made some jabs at the camaro in the past. at the end of the day the concepts speak for themselves, and to me they are saying very little

/end rant

SMS Camaro

Hi everyone,

Finally decided to register after following Camaro5 since the Gen 5 was concept. As far as the SMS Camaro goes, I love the look. If this design came out by someone else before SMS brought out his stuff I bet many would have reacted more possitively to it.

As far as it looking to much like the SMS Mustang and SMS Challenger all I can say is DUH! His intension was to make the three look like "SMS" cars. The new Camaro and Mustang ALREADY share some common physical characteristics straight out of the plant. Dodge vehicle share certain common characteristics that make them look Dodge, Chevrolet does this to there lineup to make them Chevy, Pontiac does this so they look like Pontiac and SMS did it so they are seen as SMS.

I believe Steve Saleen has made some mistakes like many other companies as umm.... GM, Chrysler and Ford have. I bet some of his comments from the past about Camaro or any other car were "partly" to be politically correct so to speak to his Ford followers when he was with Saleen, Inc. This guy is at heart a American muscle fan in general and now he has the chance to show it with his new company where he can start fresh doing some nice work.

All of us deserve second chances and I'm open to see what he does with
his new company. He's a car nut and a good business man or he wouldn't have had the success he had for years at Saleen, Inc. I'm sure he'll take some lessons learned and hopefully apply them with SMS.

Looking forward to see the rear of the car.

oh, and by the way i think someone previously said those were stick-ons on the hood. My understanding is that those are working butterflys.

From Steve's story, it sounds like he sold out his Mustang brethren for $20 million to make the Camaro the hero instead. Sounds like he made it up on the spot and wasn't thinking about it.

I really can't say the car blows me away, it's ok. I'd like to see more pictures. I actually like "old" Saleen's 2010 mustang better than the SMS 2010 mustang.
