GM Year Production Cycles?

Hey guys just wondering... when does the 2011 Camaro come out? I'm a little confused about how GM does their year models. Any word on what'll change? I remember something about an HUD speedometer... Any chance they'll make the trunk opening bigger? That's been the key factor stopping me from buying one right this moment.

2011 MY should begin the Fall of 2010 like the other models. GM has been quiet on the HUD but it could be a 2011 addition. The trunk opening is not going to change for at least 5 yrs. It would require extensive redeign and completely change the appearance of the car.

Thanks for the info. Too bad about the trunk opening. The odd day I need to pick someone up from the airport, I'd need a second car :(

Not sure what you mean. I've packed the trunk with 2 sets of golf clubs and all our luggage for (in one case) the two week trip to California.

The opening is smaller, but the trunk is actually huge.

The only problem is if you are picking someone up that has some ginormous hard side suit case.

Would 2 of these fit in the trunk?

I guess it's just a sacrifice I have to make moving over from a Civic; that and actually having to buy snow tires, paying much more for a replacement tire if needed, and being even more paranoid about my car =P

I think so, but it would be full. The trunk area is pretty large, just not deep. The back seat folds down and of course the rear seat many times is cargo space for us. The trunk is completely flat with the fuel tank & spare (air pump) all underneath.

However, Chevy will never sell a one of these to a taxi fleet.

Well the normal model changeover occurs in the fall, but with all manufacturers anymore they could happen any time during the year, depends on what they want to do.. I really doubt the trunk opening will change any until the next complete redesign for the Gen 6 Camaro... and who know how long that will be...

^^So the release date of the 2011 Camaro is still up in the air? I really want a 2011 but I don't want to wait until the Fall of 2010.

Brand new models seem to be introduced somewhat early in the year with spring being the most common in my opinion. But year to year updates and revisions, like the 2011 Camaro, tend to go into production in mid/late summer and arrive at dealerships late summer/early fall.

You might be able to get one of the first ones in August. I wouldn't count on it though.

Then plan on buying a 2010, because 2011s won't hit dealers till mid-late sept the earliest. This is no change from any other GM vehicle and GM never said anything different.

It would take some maneuvering but those would fit. It also has a seat pass thru, you could go through the back seat to get those in too....
