2010 SS ls3 vs 2001 Trans Am ls1

Alright everyone, what do ya'll think about a bone stock 2010 w/ls3 vs. a 2001 TA convertible w/ ls1 and auto trans.

A coworker's friend drives the TA and wants to race at the local 1/8th mile. He wouldn't open his hood or tell me what all he has done to it. But it did not sound cammed and i did not hear a super/turbocharger. His exhaust was extremely loud so maybe he has a full exhaust .

Both cars will be on street tires. I have stock Pirelli's and he's got some firestones on the stock 17's.

He did say he has beaten another 2010 already but didn't say by how much.

id like to know who would win this to my friend just bought one of these, and im going to race him when i get home at the 1/4 mile. Just run him and find out who's faster.

if its stock or lightly modded and YOU know how to drive, i see a W for you. i hate racing 1/8 mile especially in this car bc of IRS. the only advantage i see for him is getting you off the line

If he won't pop the hood, I wouldn't waste the time....

That being said, stock vs. stock, you'll own him..

Obviously he won't open the hood for a reason. I'd say, show me what you got or no deal. Especially if he says he's already taken a Gen 5.

If it's not cammed and no sc/turbo and still won't open hood or let u look id be thinking its bottle fed, I'd be looking for some nos lines

Just race him and see what happens. I would never back down from someone, unless money was involved, just because they wouldn't pop their hood. It's not like some machine guns are going to pop out of his hood and take you out....

First question is, do you know how to shift your car without missing a gear and have you practiced launching your car from a start with out bogging or smoking your tires off?!?!?! If your have mastered these two things, you may have no problem winning but in the 1/8th mile, you don't have any room for a mistake like you would in the 1/4 mile. As long as there is no money I would run him, the most you will do is lose and then get the "itch" to tune your car and go back for the win....it gets addicting once you start!!!

so far the TA driver has backed out! I guess he's scared. Nothing to be afraid of, i believe it will be a hell of a race. I will update if we finally get a race going.

My 2000 Z28 had long tubes, true duals, an LS6 intake, full cold air, my own tuning, and me driving it with a 6 speed...it would have been a VERY good race for my 2010 2SS M6/LS3 car...if he's got an auto, and a high stall converter, and similar bolt on's to my old car...he might just take you hard enough off the line, that you won't catch him in the 1/8 mile.
