Any one else tired of these fin side markers?

I love the way my led side markers look. Painted to match and look amazing. But the second you look at it wrong the damn tab on the back breaks!!! Yes it's got warrenty but it's a pain in the butt to take all four off swap the old ones in and wait. This is my second pair. I was removing the bumper, didn't even touch the side marker but when I popped the side of te bumper out pwtang there goes my clip and now it's gonna be a little wing when I drive. Phew I feel better now.

I snapped my tabs off before install and double sided taped them.

My broke off but I drilled a tiny hole and copper wire tied them in place. The double sided tape just didn't work well for me.

I had a tab break on one of mine without ever touching it. One day I was on a cruise with some buddy's and a friend pointed out that my sidemarker was loose and almost falling out. Sure enough, the tab had broken off. I ordered a replacement and it's tab broke off during install. Stuck some double-sided tape on it and it's been fine since. For the price, they shouldn't have these problems, but unfortunately they do.

You might want to contact the company. It sounds like they used inferior, brittle plastics. Personally, I'd rather use OEM after hearing more than a few of these cases.

I took my AAC side markers off because the tabs break, LEDs go out. I installed some Showstopper one a few days ago. I like them better and they are amber in color on the front one.

This is why I stopped investing in AAC products. They have awesome ideas, but the end product that they come up is more often than not inferior quality.

Has anyone tried making these themselves from the stock unit?

I have AAC on my synergy car and no problems so far.

The Showstopper version uses modified stock housings, so there is that option. I have actually though about changing to his version, but you have to send your stock side markers back to him or pay a $100 core charge.

They are more expensive, but if you catch them on sale it's not too bad. I actually think he's running a sale right now.

I didn't feel like paying the way over priced amount for mediocre quality AAC sidemarkers. So I actually went out on my own and body matched a set of clear sidemarkers and used and LED bulb. These have nice strong tabs too. Total cost for this project is about $110-$125 depending on where you get your LED bulbs from.

Sidemarkers - $70
Paint - $20
Primer - $8
Clear Coat - $8
LED bulbs (4 X 4.95) - $20

Masking off:

Basecoat:

Clearcoat:

After some curing time but not yet completed:

Here are the sidemarkers after taking a day to cure:

Installed my sidemarkers:

That's why I went with the Showstoppers LED side markers.
Much better quality Matt, you won't be disappointed.
