Muffler Delete Options
Has anyone tried either of these muffler delete options. Same price, but one does have built in mufflers.
http://dougthorleyheaders.com/products/productID/1059 http://msperformanceonline.com/sgf53.html Also considering the cheaper option of going to a muffler shop, but don't know of any good shops in MN. |

I just did the muffler delete on my car today. The shop did it for $80 and it sounds great. The only thing that is going to take some getting used to, is the poping sound you get when you down shift. I heard you get that even with the aftermarket mufflers.

Where these custom pipes? I notice that they have hangers. Did the shop custom bend the pipes and weld on the hangers? Do you have an auto or stick? From what I understand the auto's have pipes that run along the driveshaft, but the stick's don't. I have an auto and am wondering because I don't want loud- just more throaty!

Appreciate the feedback. Just wondering if it will be louder w/ the Vert. I've listened to videos w/ the delete, but can't really tell the sound. One of the links in my original thread has a system w/ built in mufflers, but still wonder if it will be loud.

did a delete on my vert and it sounds great even with top down. I do have a 6 speed manual and get the popping just like Dteeth says, only when idling in gear, but I got used to it and workaround it by idling on neutral. Heard on other posts the automatic doesn't have the popping sound. Sometimes I have to admit I wish it was a little louder!

the popping is "DFCO" -deceleration fuel cut off. you can tune it out. some people like it.....i think it sounds horrible, and the louder your exhaust.........the louder the popping.

Did muffler delete on my 2010 Coupe and LOVE IT!!!!! Sounds like...well, a Beast . There is popping when you down shift with the 6 speed but we like it. I was told that if you install an x-pipe that would help.
My vert goes in next week to have the mufflers taken off. Planning headers, x-pipe and hi-flow cats for that one down the road. |

Yeah but I put it in neutral when decelerating, so it does not pop too much.
