Would it be a big deal to use the scissor jack points (inside of the pinch weld) for jackstands? Thats what I've done on previous cars...

I agree.......some people are just too paranoid because it is aluminum. I have been doing for years on my 300ZX and now my SS2 without a issue. As long as you use a 2 x 4 or hockey puck it's quick and easy peasy.

I second this - Just cut a groove in the puck to match the pinch weld.

You'd think this would be in the operators manual!

i have a question.

when you guys pointed out the jack stand points to use. do you mean to have the jack stand crescent rest on the rim of the donut shaped joint, OR do you mean to have the two tips of the crescent rest on the rim of the donut shape joint. sorry for the noob question. just got a floor jack with two jack stands, and i am trying to be very careful.

please see the attached pictures i drew. for the record i tried both methods, and still not sure which one is the correct way.

Saw a dude in a video on this forum place a 2 1/2 lb weight plate underneath it to create a flat surface between the stand and the "donut" on the car. I tried it last time, seemed to work pretty good for the sake of the vehicle, not sure if it makes things a little less safe though.

edit: main reason I did it is because the first time with just the jack stand directly on it, the stand bent it a little bit.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not convinced either of your options are good.

What about what this guy did? For the record, I used the rear points on a lift (utilizing the wood as shown), and it worked great.

I used the recommended floor jack points when I switched over my winter setup back to summer. I got this at ZL1 addons piece that allows easier access to the pinch weld area, have not used it yet:

humm... the guy in your referenced thread did not use those donut joints for jack stand. now we're back to square one, some say use the donuts joints, others use the other parts of the body. i understand that they all probably work as long as it's part of the frame. i am just wondering if i jack it up at the donut joint, which method is the proper one, since many seem to suggest the donut joints.
