im going to go ahead and do mine just bc 1, its free and 2, bc im thinking that a ported throttle body should net a bigger gain with a cold air intake than just the intake alone. im also going to be doing the blower and snout here soon as well.

If you're doing it yourself and you don't know what you're doing, you could hurt your throttle response and gain nothing.
i actually have alot of porting experience on cast iron , stainless steel, and aluminum as well as alot of general fabrication experience

Snake oil......

Now there is a throttlebody that will help!

We have tested and proven that if you remove the Factory 87mm throttlebody and install a LS3 90mm throttlebody that you will make 8-10 minimum rwhp.

All ADM ZL Packages get this done now!

In stock at LSACONVERSION.COM for a great price!

Only gain the hp if you tune for it, and that's the actual gain.

And you know this how? Have you done this yet? Or did you just read threads saying you have to tune for this?

I agree, Cold Air intake is a great first mod and cost effective.
For a little more money you can get a great exhaust.

You are a bit Unstable Vic in your answer... I have watch 7 Zl1's dyno with both Roto Fab and CAI, with HP gain's documented..

The best bang for the buck cost effective power mod is the RotoFab CAI. No additional tune needed, 20 - 30 rwhp gain.

After that a ported throttle body is cheap enough where you might get a couple more hps out of it.

But then it starts getting expensive.

If you do pulleys you need a tune and upgrade the fuel injectors and possibly full exhaust because of cat failure.
If you do headers you need a tune and upgrade the fuel injectors and possibly full exhaust because of cat failure.
Cam upgrade, definitely need a tune and probably fuel injectors.
And dont forget you will be generating more heat with these substanial hp upgrades so you need to look at better cooling. i.e. Ron Davis LSA Heat Exchanger, D3 Reservoir, 160* Tstat.

I track, and my only power adders for now is the RotoFab and Ported Throttle Body. 600hp will still make you plenty F'ing fast on the track and my engine is still covered under factory warranty.

Important to note: A tune immeadiately (depending on how uncooperative/cooperative the dealer wants to be) voids the warranty on the engine and associated powertrain components. So that is something else to think about.

Do you drag race or do mostly lapping/autocross or both?

With an auto in my personal opinion the BEST first mod for the street and drag strip is stickier tires. A nitto 555R or R888 or similar will make a big difference. These cars are difficult to hook on the street with stock power from a dig so that'll make a big difference. (You can run a MT drag radial but they are a pure drag tire and compromise handling on the street)

Next would be a pulley combo. If you don't want to tune and keep the stock intake with drop in filter and a 10% OD for around 50-65RWHP increase or a 5% OD for a 35RWHP increase. The good thing is once the ATI dampener is on pulley ring changes are a breeze so if you wanted to go bigger and get a tune you can.

After that you can look at a torque converter though it can be finicky from a tune perspective and a lockup perspective. The gains from the right stall converter are huge though.

A lot of folks like CAI's (Rotofab and CAI) but with an auto and stock tune I personally prefer the stock intake with green drop in. It flows well, looks stock and you don't have to worry at all about MAF scaling / transient lean spots. (With a tune you can dial everything in perfectly though)

It's easy to put an auto ZL1 in the high 10's/low 11's with the right combo.
