As a gift my brother painted mine the other day. He used the Krylon Fuson Pepper Red it seems to be the closest to VR. Sorry picture taken with my phone. I also had my bowties painted red on my car so he did it to this as well.

I painted mine using the Krylon Fusion paint for plastic in red and gloss black. no real prep or sanding so to speak. Unfortunately I have a couple minor spots where the paint bled over but hope to fix it with touch up paint. I wanted to remove the emblem from the center since I hadnt seen anyone do that yet and did only to find out there is a indention underneath. My solution was to cut the black plastic from a dvd case to make a platform and paint it the same color. Got the v6 emblem and performance division emblem off ebay for a good price. I think it came out pretty well for my first time painting anything of this size. Pics follow.

Finally Got It Done

Well after looking at all the engine covers and not wanting to copy anyone cover, I finally got mine done. Thanks to an airplane or bird, air bomb was more gel then bird stuff, I had to start over. I hope you like it.

This is the color code for the body paint. The engine enamel may be a whole difffernt code they go by and my impression woould be they do not match the body colors with the engine paint. Mine was painted with the body paint. Not an expert on how the paint will hold up with heat temperatures. Several clear coats have been applied to mine. So far so good and I don't anticipate any problems. Others on this thread has used the body paint and others have used the engine paint but I have not heard any issues with either of them. Sorry if I mislead you. Anybody out there have issues with their painted covers or have an opinion?

Deciding what to do is the hard part. With all the covers being done it's hard to be different.
