Vader if you are still on stock rear gearing you should be able to go well past 89 at redline in 3rd. I believe the automatics, while having the same overall gear ratio, actually go a tad bit faster in a couple of the gears than the manual does. That said, I can hit somewhere around 108 - 110 in 3rd gear in my A6. So I'm thinking you should be able to get close to that in your car in 3rd gear.

I have 3.45 gear on 305/20s with an auto V6 and I'll pull 108mph in top of third. That puts me right about 6950 - 7000 RPMs at the end of the 1/4. I'm hoping to do some more testing this week also if the weather stays good. It's getting cooler let's see some good numbers folks!!!

That's crazy strange. I can hit 108 in third I'm not sure where 2nd is but I believe 1st is good for 38. I have 6MT with stock tranny and gearing.

1) you didn't drive the car right 2) car is not running right. That system is capable of much better than just trapping 100. Best of luck to ya!

I doubt I'm driving the car that far off. I was running 14.5 @ 96mph bone stock. Never really got a clean run. The car drives great now just got it back.

If you were having clutch problems and redlined at 89mph in 3rd I would guess you were still over powering the clutch. I know my 2011 m6 will run to at least 100+mph in 3rd. I trapped at 98-99mph fairly stock with some rpm room left in 3rd gear.
