I am still a 1LE being faster skeptic. The drag strip times for 1LEs are just not there. Sure NPP and electric PS may have given a little boost, but the LS3 under a 1LE hood is just another LS3. Still the LS3 is a great engine.
And a CAI can be worth 15+ RWHP by itself. While my NPP 1LE 1/4 mile times are getting faster after 35-40 runs, I have to use DA correction to get very near 12 seconds. Just like other LS3 Camaros with so-so drivers I am stuck in the low to mid 13s on a high DA day and my MPH is dead even with the older cars. As we know MPH = HP. Shifting into 4th is a disadvantage in the 1/4 more than canceling out the 3.2 (6.4 overall) pounds saved by the lighter Wheels and tires in the rear and the other 2013 Camaro upgrades. The gearing is a wash. As for me I am happy with the 1LE owning the road track. But I do like seeing the 1LE dyno results. I should do one before I start modding. I ran the car hard after 900 miles and did the obligatory fuse pulls.

1. Was the air quality (temp, humidity, barometric pressure) similar on both days? 2. Which do you attribute more of the roughly 50 hp and ft/lb torque to, the CAI or the exhaust? 3. Did this involve a tune as well? Thanks in advance? |

I have to agree with Fraxum says in his last post. The dyno numbers are one thing but time slips are another. It seems that Fraxum has had both cars and would have good idea of what both are capable of doing. I love reading the debates on here about this and believe that the stock 1LE is a better car on the curves but I dont see the proof they are better in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile. The time slips shown on this site are the only ones I see.

I'll take care of that soon. Probably should just PM the guy. If you dont get a response you may want to checkout some of his posts. There are some interesting debates about it in the other thread. |

Too many people focus on the 3.91 gear and assume "it must be faster" but they don't take into consideration the trans gearing is different as well. 1st/2nd gearing is taller in the 1LE and there is a shift required into 4th gear that is not needed in the non-1LE SS. Add to that the "stretched" Goodyears on a 11 inch wheel which provide no sidewall flex and you have a car that by all means should be slower than a non-1LE SS. Below are the "fast lists"......they more or less show that the 1LE is no quicker (and it shouldn't be) than a standard SS. I know that there is another 1LE that best me with a 12.88x but I dont see him on here yet. Here is the 1LE fast list: Here is the NON-1LE fast list: Matt

Dropspeed I'm with you on this, I keep reading how the 1LE is faster than the SS in a drag race and the time slips on here don't prove it. Since you have the fastest 1LE on the list I think you are the man so far. Since the SS and 1LE both are great cars we can enjoy both for what they are but until the 1LE stock can prove their claims with time slips the SS stock guys are going to continue to laugh.
