To fbodfather on Corvette Forum there was 1 or 2 users on the site that put out the same info on order status and Gm did not stop It. and as for CGM 10 weeks late, 4+6 weeks. why
not hold up a anther color so you do not have to hold the #2 color up.

Results are in on your Camaro color votes.

Last week we announced that GM was seeking your input as to your most & least favorite current Camaro colors. The Camaro5 community certainly turned out in force to make your voices heard! 646 members participated and provided a ranking of their color preferences. The GM marketing manager has received the data and thanks the entire Camaro5 community for the feedback, as do we!

The following is a breakdown of the respondents’ average rating of each color (scale from 10 to 1):

Black — 7.06
Cyber Gray Metallic — 7.01
Imperial Blue Metallic — 5.90
Silver Ice Metallic — 5.86
Victory Red — 5.82
Inferno Orange Metallic — 5.44
Red Jewel Tinticoat — 5.25
Aqua Blue Metallic — 4.29
Rally Yellow — 4.28
Summit White — 4.24

It's not as though GM was in an office, "Hmmm we have to hold one color which one should it be?"

"Oh I know!!! Cyber Gray! Lots of people like it so we should keep it from them!"

No, they had no choice over which color they had to delay and it was CGM because of the grey for the Impala. The Impala is produced on the same line as the Camaro will be and the shut down on the Impala line delayed the production of the grey Impalas, delaying the CGM Camaros. After they switch to CGM both Camaro and Impala will be using that color.

I now that. But start the CGM at start of production of the camaro line and paint only the Impalas that are sold in the Grey now, its not like Gm has 10000 pre sold Impalas in Grey.

"Oh I know!!! Cyber Gray! Lots of people like it so we should keep it from them!"
no its not people like it its a lot of people ordered it...

and back to order status ?

Well awhile back I had ordered a new Challenger SRT8 and waited 5 months for it, but when it arrived the dealer raised the price over MSRP. What I'am getting at is a challenger forum I was on had an unofficial web site that updated orders every day
and Chrysler didn't remove or close it down. GM should be glad we are interested our orders, we are what keeps them going and not interfere with information on a private forum .

Out of 4 in my area, only one has been even remotely helpful. The others are just simply worthless quite frankly, and sadly are turning customers away from GM with their lack of information, misinformation, and shady practices (i.e. over MSRP pricing). I thank God for the internet so that I can do my own research and know what the deal is before I step foot into a dealer's showroom. I have learned dealers are independent franchises, but GM should really re-evaluate how they sell their vehicles in this day and age. I'm not saying any other car manufacturer's dealers are any better, but you work for GM so I'm focusing on them in this discussion. Buying a car should be a fun and exciting experience. Unfortunately all too often that's not the case, with the buying experience turning into an exercise in futility, frustration, and aggravation.

Having said that.....

I work in IT, so maybe I'm over simplifying things since I don't know what type of back end order system GM uses but....

Folks here are ordering a 2010 car sight unseen and paying a premium at this point to own one of these vehicles, albeit a very nice one. Surely GM could have something setup to follow online the status of the vehicle. The order number and order status are tied together in some fashion at GM. Having a web front end with a simple "type in your order number" and it spits out the order status with a list of order status definitions shouldn't be THAT difficult to implement. The data could easily be scrubbed for any personal info outside of the order number to avoid any issues with personally identifiable information.

This would do three things....it would keep a customer who has had enough faith in GM to drop $30K+ on a car they've most likely never seen in person in the loop on their order, as well as give them a sense of being a part of the program as a whole further boosting that sense of loyalty and camaraderie with GM. It would keep the customer from having to deal with less than helpful dealership staff. It would keep anyone at GM from having to answer a phone all day long to answer ordering questions.

Again, maybe you guys don't have internal IT folks who can make this happen, or maybe security is too much of a concern, but it sure makes sense from a customer perspective.

Just my 2 cents.

I wholly agree with what you just said.

Why not just switch the colors and give the people who ordered the older grey a nice surprise.. I'm sure they woudn't mind getting the cyber grey from the ZR1 on their Impala...

Please do not joke around about ABL. Either continue your stance of silence or tell us what's up with it, but don't rub it in. We've been requesting this information for months now.

Quote:
I don't know why, but just from reading this post I have a gut feeling that ABL is working and they really want to surprise us.
"Surprise! You got what you paid for!" If they got it working they would just say so as only the enthusiasts on the forums know about the ABL problems right now. If they withheld information for that reason a lot of people would be annoyed. HUD would be a good surprise...but something I paid for is expected.

Why can't GM switch the colors right now? I don't know. They have their reasons, be they legally binding contracts or whatever. I am certain in these times GM does not take lightly delaying the second most popular color in a car this highly anticipated. They simply can't afford to do something that stupid, and from what I've seen on this site, the people making decisions at GM aren't that stupid.

$24,000,000,000,.00 a year or so
The people making decisions at GM are not as bad as the people that loaned GM money.

*sigh* I find, sometimes, conveying meaning online much more difficult over the internet than in person, but I will try. Look at how GM has handled this car so far. It has been handled in such a different and better way from any other car release I have ever seen. To think that now, so close to the release, that GM would revert to a "screw the customer, lets loose money" tactic is absurd beyond imagining.

There must be a very good reason for delaying CGM. I can only imagine that it is some legally binding contracts dealing with Impalas of the current shade of gray and replacing them now would leave them open to lawsuit at a time where that would damage GM irreparably.

I don't know how many Impalas they have sold but those orders could already accepted to production control. And what do you want them to do, put CGM in now, build a few camaros and swap the other color back to finish off the Imapalas? You can't really do that. And build schedule has never been binding so delaying it in no way violates any sort of contract.
