Future Camaro Owner questions!

If the bank/finance people say yes, I'll be hopefully getting a Camaro SS... Or a V6, depending on insurance...

But, I notice in the GM.ca Build Your Camaro page, the SS does NOT have an option for a block heater....

I can't find anything that says one is included...

So will I be able to get one from one of the truck 6.2L engines and have it go right in?

I know the SS has bigger brakes... But 18" rims will still fit, right? I plan on getting a set of the heritage rims with the car for the winter tires... If I can!

Not sure about the block heater. I only ever saw it as an option for the V6.

On the SS the minimum rim size is 20". The rear MIGHT be able to take a smaller rim...but that would just look stupid.

In a pinch an electric blanket works great ...... Warms the whole engine compartment ....

Welcome! Make sure to check out the Canada section of the forum!!!

You cannot get a block heater on the SS from the factory. I don't know about other options for you on that one.

I am 95% sure that 18's will NOT fit on a SS because of the Brembos. You will have to get seperate 20s and tires or just get 20 winter tires and put them on the rims.....

Well, I was pretty sure on the rims not working... but I had to ask, lol.

There's better winter tires in an 18" rim...

Block heater, I guess I'll have to pay extra, lol... I doubt it'll like -40 starting without one! lol

Maybe I can convince the dealership to test fit wheels... lol

Since your in Edmonton... You might know if there's any at a dealership I can come test fit... Grande Prairie doesn't have any Camaro's, lol.

Thanks everyone

If any SS owner has a friend with 18s, you could always try swapping a front and see if it fits... lol

That would be a waste of time. They don't.

Oh well... I'll just have to "suffer" with the 20s!

Time to do some research on 20" winter tires!

Though, tirerack recommends 18" wheels for the SS under the "winter" category... That's why I was curious...

Now to see if I can find one to see if I can sit comfortably, lol

Another question (I know, I know... Double posting... But better than starting up a new thread! )

I've been looking at tire sizes, and from what I can see 245/45R20's will fit on the rear wheels (maximum 9" rim size is reccomended)

What kind of funny things will this do to the handling?
Skinny tires are definitely better in the snow/ice, so I'm probably going to get 255's at the most for the rears...
