ZL1 Brake Duct question
Can you guys with ZL1s tell me how the brake ducts run from inside the wheel liner to the brakes? I have the parts illustrations and can see the ducts coming from the front of the car to the wheel lines. But from there none of the illustrations show a connection from inside the line to the brake area. I'm assuming there must be another duct that feeds the air into the dust shield so it points at the hub/rotor area? At least that's how I've seem other cars do it. It doesn't appear from the illustrations that the ZL1 dust shield has any type of fitting for a duct. As a matter of fact, it looks smaller than what's on the SS.
I'm going to be making a brake duct system for my SS and thought if I could utilize parts off the ZL1 it might look cleaner than running duct hose from the front to the dust shield. Any pictures would be appreciated. Thanks

Just went out snapped a couple pics. Hope you can tell from this. The duct just directs air to the brakes. First pic is the back of the duct, you can see the notch cut out of the wheel well. Then the front of the grill with a flash and without the flash you can see the light coming through.

Thanks Cyber, so it looks like air is just being directed into the wheel well area but not being directed specifically to the hub or rotor area? I was sort of hoping that wasn't the case. I would prefer to have it ducted right to the dust shield pointing right at the hub/rotor area like I have seen on other cars. The explains the smaller dust shield vs. the SS if this is the case.

The zl1 doesnt have full brake dust shields, hence the wheel liner outlet do work by directing cold air to the rotors. Keep in mind ducts to the shield dont work that great during daily driving, especially in wet. Your ducts and rotor vanes will be so full of dirt and stuff that it would hurt performance more. You could build some for track duty, but the zl1 doesnt really need it.
