makes sense, the car is finished. Maybe if the 1LE and Boss had come to the table at the same time...sadly that never happens with Mustang and Camaro.

Ford builds a car. If it does well, GM responds by building a better one. Been that way since the beginning really...

When you look at the comparison... they're basically comparing optional equipment which is the 2 track packs. The remainder is the same as it has been in recent years.

In this video... I see suspension being the dominator between the 2, not so much a power to weight ratio like many other arguments. If Ford has any intentions of making up ground.. they need to invest time and research in handling like Chevy did with the ZL1 and it'll become a better track race. Now... Chevy did do themselves a favor with the 3.91 gear and better tires... that showed on the straightline race itself.

I believe the 1le is quicker than the boss 302 or even the Laguna sedan. 3 seconds a lap on a short course is an eternity.

Also "tank slapper" is a term that I've had heard used for cars sideways as well.

Every time I drive or ride in a camaro the lack of visibility drives me crazy. It looks cool but chevy got that part of the Camaro all wrong.

The visibility is not bad at all in the 5th gen. Camaro. The only down side for me has been backing out of an angled parking spot but then i use my back up camera and it's not that bad at all.

Tail snapping from sideways one way to sideways the other (and maybe repeat) is the way I've always understood it for cars.

kg - FWIW, damping is the correct term. The topic is "damped vibrations", not "dampened vibrations" which suggests that somehow a vibration is getting wet like what you do to a washcloth.

But I agree with the point about how last year's hero (in any of these comparos) always tends to become this years doggie-doo if they don't come out on top again.

What I'd take away from that comparison is
(1) the P Zero isn't nearly as good at this as the GY G.2 when the chips are really down, and
(2) that 255 tires and 9" wheels are a little on the narrow side even though the Mustang is a little lighter than the Camaro on its 285s and 10"/11" wheels.

Further, I doubt that Ford would deny that the GT suspension tuning gives away a fair bit to the Boss / Boss LS that they refused to supply.

If this car was any cooler I'd need to drive it wearing a coat.

Last year the 5.0 was "americas M3" this year it is a P.O.S...
In all fairness they should have put the 1LE against a Boss 302 and M3 or call of the whole thing...
Besides that 99% of the customers cars will never see a track or the drivers will have Lieberman's abilities...
So track tests like this or the Lightning Lap are interesting to watch but really don't have much meaning in the real world...
That takes nothing away from the fact that the Camaro is a much better track car with more torque but 3 extra cams and 16 extra valves egalize 1200cc displacement.
Makes you wonder what a 6.2 L LS-3 with 4 overhead cams and 32 valves could do ?!
I think they did this comparison right,
A 1SS with the 1LE package cost 36.5k NO other options included
A base GT with the Track package cost 34k NO other options included
A base M3 cost 60k, before add their 'competition package' ( 2.5k )

(the base 1SS is noticeably much better equipped than the Base GT, If you want Brembo's for the GT it's another $1,700)

As for the Boss 302, if I am not mistaken Ford has stopped producing them? You can no longer 'build' the car on their website, regardless the 1LE ran around VIR in a 2.58.34, the 302 LS ran a 3.02.80
Willow Springs 1LE 1.22.7, 302 LS ran a 1.26.10

Only two tracks I found common times on, and the 302 Boss as stated by somebody else is close to a 50k car? with no back seats, That is Corvette territory....

So in my opinion this comparison was spot on as far as 'fairness'

However to all their own opinion
