LoJack Security System

Has anyone had LoJack installed in their Camaro? Or have had it in any other vehicle? With all of the mod work done to my car, I'm looking at additional security/peace of mind options.

I have it, but it came with the vehicle, I've never really paid attention to it though

I had it on my previous car and bike, won't get it again. Most thieves know where the system is located and the damn battery would on the key fob would die every two months or so.

big waste of money. onstar works way better in vehicle recovery after theft. lojack is a horrible tracking system, but onstar uses gps and will locate it exactly.

I got it. Have not had to use it or had any issues with it. Did it for peace of mind as you say. Never had it before now.

I have it as well, like others have mentioned, it was for the piece of mind more than anything. I haven't yet had it tested, but I have always been curious as to how well it actually works.

We have the Port of Tampa, and Onstar won't work out of North America and LoJack will ... Have it on all three of my cars.

i can tell you both have there draw back and positives. lojack relys on the police to do a report and activate the lojack through there computer systems, this can take a little while, also it requires the law enforcment vehicles to have the lojack equipment installed in there cars i can tell you not many actually do id say there is a small % in most major law enforcement units. but it works indoors, in garages, in shipping containers. onstar can be activated by a phone call and your vehicle can be pin pointed instantly down fall is once the battery is disconnected your onstar is time limited also if the antenna does not have a view of the sky it doesnt work all the well.

That is a good summary. I also read that LoJack says to do a $80 system check every 2 years to make sure its still able to work properly.

I keep my car in a garage, in a decent neighborhood, and rarely park anywhere suspect. I'd just hate to lose a car with all these mods that I love because of not being proactive. Still undecided. I don't mind spending the money, I just don't want to waste it.

My question is, if your car was stolen, why would you want it back?

I have LoJack. Advantage over Onstar is that it uses radio frequency, rather than satellite, so even in a garage or container, the car can be found. Also, LoJack will call you immediately if your car moves AT ALL without the fob in it. With Onstar, you have to report it stolen befre they track it. Lastly, my insurance gave me a discount for LoJack, but not one for Onstar. (and my LoJack fob battery has never been a problem, at almost 2 years...)
