Scorpions will be better in snow. The LM60 is a performance winter so it will handle in the dry slighly better, but I can give up some dry handling for better snow performance. In Michigan I would go Pirelli Scorpion.

Just bought a set of 245/45/20 and 275/40/20 pirelli snow tires from tire rack.i was originally going to go with Rudy's recommendation for 245/45/20 all around for a better bite, but decided at the last moment to go for the staggered stock look(the 275/40/20's are also cheaper).
Has anybody in the snow states tried this setup in the snow?I'm already committed, but was wondering how other people have held up.

They will work fine that way. The rear is only about an inch wider. You would pick up a little additonal deep snow traction by staying with 245's all the way around but its not a night vs day difference.

Hi Rudy, this is an awesome thread. Thanks for all your good info, and for supporting C5. I have a ZL1 on order & we've been talking about what to do for winter, since the stock tires need to come off below 40° F. I plan to drive my beasty all year and will need some tires that are good from 20°-60° with very little snow down here in El Paso. Since the ZL1 stock tires are [ F: 285/35/20 / R: 305/35/20 ] I was wondering what you would recommend for winter tires. I'd really prefer to keep the same widths since I seldom have to deal with snow. You might want to pop into the ZL1 forum as well. There's a bit of buzz going on about the 40° summer tires. Thanks. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187077

I will tell everyone driving in the snow with stock summer tires is a heart attack in the making. I now realize it was a combination of a fresh light dusting (first ¼ in) on clear but below freezing road temperatures, the tires being hard at 32* F and the lack of tread, DON’T try it.
Ok I have 2 2010 M6 SS/RS Camaros that need winter setups, I drive one and my son drives the other (both are between 60 – 80 miles each day) but it will not be on summer tires this winter. I don’t think I’m up to that challenge ever again. We have one set of unused stock 20 in wheels ready for tires and TPMS and one set that only need tires. Because they are 20 in wheels it doesn’t matter but one car has the roller skates one does not (no difference in noise/vibration by the way on our particular cars for those interested) We live in central VA and will more than likely only see a few days of snow so most of our driving will be on dry roads with the occasional plowed and salted roads with only a few blocks of secondary (un-maintained) roads to deal with. I know too much info (TMI) but I usually buy everything x 3 and its breaking the bank. Rudy With only accessional snow I’m thinking the 275’s in the back (600+rwhp) would be ok??? What brand/setup do you recommend for my conditions? Do you have a preference of phone or online ordering? Thanks, good thread!

Guys,
I have a 2012 camaro 1ss/rs. Was looking to get winter tires put on so went to tire rack and ordered a pair of pirelli scorpions that were recommended for my car by tirerack. Had them shipped to an installer. Installer says they cannot put the on because the tires are all 245/45/20 and the rear wheels are 275/40/20. They said the tires are too small to mount on the stock rear wheels even if they tried stretching them to fit..anyone else run into this? What tires actually fir the stock ss/rs wheels?
