Marriage is a bigger sinkhole than racecar! Nice package LS3. I'm jealous.

I fn hate Atlanta...I'm looking forward to small town living again. And BTW I'm retiring at 40. Ize gots me a suga momma (ok not really but she makes enough).....best part is she is all for building the Camaro into a drag car

So I'm going to sleep however long I want to, take care of the kids and dogs, take care of chores around the house, go to the gym twice a day, lay the pipe to momma...go to sleep...get up...repeat

Cam grind question for you guys. As you all may know, I'm planning on having Lethal do a custom grind cam install when I'm down that way for the Fest in May! I'm looking for a grind that will give me a nice wide power curve but still have good top end power for road course and autocross use. It needs to be low maintenance and be able to withstand road course punishment! I prefer a wide power curve over peak HP! Need to be able to pull out of a turn and accelerate from mid rpm's.

From what I have read I think a grind with a little less lift, more duration, and a more gradual ramp than a Night Fury would work. What do you guys suggest for a grind? Of course I will be talking to the guys at Lethal for their recommendation but I have 5 months before I'm ready to get serious, so in the mean time I'll learn what I can! Thanks!

I'm doing a JRE 470 cam kit upgrade, and have been reading about harmonic balancers. Fluid damper and ATI, is the swap to a aftermarket system really benificial to the bottom end bearings, chain and valve train. Or will the stock one do its job in a performance orientated setting? I'm interested in your guy input and thoughts on this matter.

It is beneficial it keeps harmonics in check. I've seen Stock ones just break away so if you have the coin get ATI (top notch) but a powerbond will do just fine. I have used a powerbond for years now and never had an issue.

I just don't understand why you wouldn't tune it....especially since you are an A6. The difference it makes in the car is incredible.

But to answer..15-20...

Not much, a tune will mainly shut off the rear o2's and clear any CEL's but I'd say a few depending on your setup.

I don't know anything about auto crossing.

But what RPM are you at typically when you come out of the turn? I'm guessing its 4k plus but I don't know. And in autocrossing don't you have short sprints in between turns? Like I said I don't know. But if that's the case I would want a cam that makes power in the upper end and gets there quick when it gets into the powerband.

Where's monkey man when you need him...

yea Tim would know better than me, I'm just getting into it! When I was at Gingerman I was coming out of turns in 3rd gear at around 3K. Autocross is mostly 2nd gear sometimes as low as 2500 rpm out of hairpins. I have 3.91 gears which helps and I would like to customize the cam so it works well with the gears on the track. I guess what I'm looking for is like I said, a broad curve but not JUST top end peak power. I know there are road course grinds out there so I'm curious about what makes a better road course grind over a drag strip grind. I'm also worried about valve train longevity and keeping maintenance to a minimum.
