Suggestion: Remove posts from off-topic and general auto section from post count

Self explanatory. LS1tech does this, as do many other tech-oriented sites.

I also recommend a requirement of 50 posts, or 3 months of membership to list/post anything in the for sale section. This is doable with this BB software. Most other sites have something similar, weeds out spam and crooks.

I dont see a point to the first part of the suggestion. What if someone comes to this site looking or is going to get a camaro and posts in those sections. They are enjoying the site and the friendship of the site.

The second part of the suggestion I can validity to.

Cheers
K

I'm pretty sure C5 moderators and admins have already said they will not be removing post count from the OT section.

Such posts have little or no merit towards anything camaro or technical related. Thats the point.

I hope my last post didn't come off as rude. I just reread it and it didn't sound like I wanted it to.

I think one of the reasons were because a lot of members (like me) would lose thousands of posts.

For some people in the OT section? Yes.

I would say yes when someone posts 20 TY's in one thread.

To me it's quality not quantity.

And like moderators have said before, it won't stop the one worded postings. So if our post counts bother you, simply don't look.

Why does it bother you that someone has sniffer number than you? Are you this bothered by other owner's have more rwhp than you?

By excluding a specific forum from contributing to an individual's post count, it effectively lends a "meaning" to the post count myth.

Outside of the minimum count to sell idea, which we'll have to look into...we don't much care about post count.
