Just did the toggle bolt method on my 2LT. Had to use a little creativity but it worked like a champ. Hope it doesn't fall off!

This was my first mod - I also used small length of 3/16" clear vinyl tubing in 4 locations to keep the plate holder from scuffing the paint (that was in another thread).

Love this forum - so many people willing to provide great ideas and help me spend my paycheck. Thanks!!

Did the mod today, excellent writeup !!! Clean & easy. I'm in NJ, where there is talk of deleting the front plate, so if & when that happens, off comes the mount and that gorgeous front end is free & clear !!!

Ideally I'd prefer an electrically retractable mount I could control from inside the car so I could drive around with it hidden until a cop pulls me over and then pop it out leaving him doubting his sanity after he checked the cars front

BUT since there's not enough room under my car with GFX on it for the mechanism I compromised with using toggle bolts with smaller washers than the first guy did here so the bolt heads go down inside the mount holes rather than bending the back of the plate outward. Also I trimmed off much of the plastic guides on the lower part of the stock plate mount to allow the plate to rest against the new GFX lower air dam more flush with it instead of putting the guides into the grill itself. I have a custom plate as well so its not so bad PLUS angling the plate on the front air dam should increase downforce AND since radar and laser cops aim at your license plate (or headlights) they will be wondering why they can't get a locked on signal since the plate angle will reflect the oppression devices reflections back waaaaaaay above them!

Well in addition I have a quad head Laser Interceptor laser jammer to insure I don't get zapped by the cops

Here's a couple of shots; one before and one after I added my new T Rex Billet grills.

I just mounted my license plate bracket this way.
Instead of using black electircal tape, I cut 3/4 in. pieces of rubber hose(left over from CAI install) to place over the wings of the toggle. it worked great. I was thinking that the tape might start to come apart overt time.

Maryland Fines

I have had my 2010/SS for just over two years. The first year I was pulled over a few times and given a warning for "No Front Plate", this past 6 months though I have been pulled over 3 times, each has been a $80 fine, no points. Each time by a State Trooper, each time in a different geographic location. No other citation was issued, I was not speeding. It was purely for the not having the front plate mounted. Not sure why the stops have become more frequent, but I do know the fine is now $80 w/ no points.

well just registered the car in MD so i need to mount the front tag now i guess...this seems like the best option since i have a front lip. i really dont want to do it though haha. i hate how front plates look.
