I'd be finding a junk small block to pull apart versus a new engine with nothing wrong unless you plan on upgrading things while you're in there. And if you have the money to forge the internals and put in a performance cam in high school then can I have a loan?

Sounds risky, wouldn't do. Make a bridge with toothpicks instead?

No. Not a good idea for you if you intend to graduate this year.

Is there something wrong with the engine now? Do you plan on upgrading or building it to handle higher numbers?
If you are just taking it apart to put it back together again ....

If you take your time and have a watchful expert who knows what they are doing like a friend and you follow this... I see absolutely nothing wrong. Just be wise, have help, patience and a lot of down time on a new Camaro sure.
