Need help, totally stuck...

I'm in the process of taking off my SC snout which requires removal of SC cap/lid and I have no idea how to get the rear 4 bolts out. Seems impossible...

I know one member on here drilled holes in the metal above where they are to access them and I really didn't want to go that route. How is everyone doing it? There is no good DYI stuff on this for the ZL1, only the V and it doesn't have the same problem.

Any help is much appreciated, Thanks.

Thanks, but that is the CTS-V LSA motor, easy to get to the back bolts on that car.

You could try a flexible head ratchet and universal type sockets
http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/pr...CT-SOCKET-SET/

http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/pr...-HEAD-RATCHET/

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....re&dir=catalog

Check those out. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for when it comes to tools. I have all the above and they are great tools.

Not sure if it would work with what you need but i can check it out and get back with you tomorrow.

thanks
anthony

I have heard the people who don't drill it uses swivels. Some have said though it is just way faster to to drill it and plug the holes.

Ended up getting it done with 1/4" swivel, 1/4" 6" extension, and 10mm swivel head ratcheting wrench. Oh yeah, and 10 bloody knuckles...

just got back from my shop and i was going to post that.
I will add one suggestion to anyone else that plans to do it without drilling, the use of super long racheting wrenches with flex head like these http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/pr...rce=igodigital will make all but the middle bolts super easy to get off. The use of the 1/4 drive long ratchet handel with universal socket and woble ended exension make easy work of the middle bolts!

Tools are expensive, but once you have the right tool, you will find many other uses were they are life savers.

Glad you were able to get it done! Sorry about being late in the day on response.

thanks
anthony

Drill the holes, they get covered when done, no different than many other accesses holes you do have on the car. Unless you want to use the wiggle ratchet way, but it's not easy to torque.
It looks stock if you use the plugs also. Remember the top cover will cover the holes.
