Question Question: What other cars are in the same class as ZL1

Well for the last few days I have started counting chickens before they hatch.
I have found that all of the other cars I have looked at, the ZL1 is at least the most expensive in its same class. While trying to be positive, on the same note that does bug me just a tad. I have looked at the Grand Sport..
You can get a 2011 and maybe a 2012 Grand Sport for about the same price or less in price.
Less horsepower, but less weight. I do not like the reviews I have read about the vette, and the vette is really not a "me" car. Camaro is.
The 2012 Shelby GT500 could be had for about the same price, and even less. It does not have the HP the ZL1 has and nor do I think it looks as good interior wise. So apples for apples if I am going to spend 60k I would pick the ZL1 over the shelby mainly because it is close in price range and id hate to say it but the price is really the only reason as the shelby is a good looking car exterior wise.
The 2012 Nissan 350 Z nismo I posted about today (someone moved the thread) while not really in the same class as the ZL1, is a nice contender as far as looks and ride, but it is a foreign car. I actually liked the feel, ride, and comfort of my 2006 VW jetta better, but again when once gets a sports car I guess he should not ask to be comfy?
The 2012 Nissan 350Z would be what I would pick if for some strange reason I found myself not able to shell out the full $62k for the zl1 or if some reason I talk my self out of buying the ZL1.
The nissan dealer was kind to actually ask ME if I wanted to drive it. I liked to have choked (caught me way off guard) as I have never as of YET have a chevy dealer ask me If I would like to drive a 5th Gen SS.
So that in itself has left a bad taste in my mouth as I won't even go to back to any local chevy dealer to drive a SS to see if I even like they way they drive. I got one dealer who kept my ordering deposit and wont give it back and my other local dealer I have been back and forth so much I would not dare to ask to drive a SS as they do not have a ZL1 to sell me. SOOO....
I like the look of the dodge challenger, but I would not buy one. I am not a dodge fan at all. I would take a mustang over a dodge, just the way it is.
So...
I ask you.... not really apples for apples, but lets say within a $10k margin...
and within 200 hp, what else is out there in the ZL1 class?

That's a huge margin. 10 grand and 200hp. That's a pretty long list.

Anything that can compete w/ the CTS-V, I would consider to be in the same class as the ZL1. If the Corvette isn't for you, I really would consider a CTS-V! It's basically a ZL1 with a nicer interior, and far better rear seats. 2 Doors, 4 Doors, or a WAGON!

The S5 while a nice looking car, is the same price as the ZL1 for about $62k..
But not a bad lookin ride!
Bottom line, if Im going shell out $62k ill stay with the ZL1.

Is the 2010 Last year of production though?
Would like to stick with a brand new car though be it a 2012 or 2013.
Thanks much as it is something to consider and I have looked at the smaller beemers in the past. I will defiantly keep the M6 in mind and do more research on it.

If I were you, I'd cool off and this will give you a chance to see the 2013 GT500 with all the new stuff they did to suspension. The 2013 ZL1 will be out about 7-8 months after 2012. This way you have finalized your money issues, picked the right car by testing both GT500 & ZL1. I say wait for another 9 months. Two choices in my book ZL1 or Gt500 for the range you're looking for. Just my two cents.

At a 55k price for the ZL1 I believe you are only looking at about 5k more for a CTS-V.

I seriously considered a 2006 Ferrari 360 modena spyder instead of the ZL1.
Either that or a 2008 or 2009 Shelby.
