GM LS9 Supercharger - Now available for all LSx Engines

This makes me think that the z/28 will NOT come from the factory supercharged. (why make this kit if it does?)

Well I wouldn't be surprised if there were two models (like a 1SS and 2SS)... one that does and then does not have a Supercharger for the Z28.

One word = Warranty. Now, I dunno what the Z28 is going to be...but if it is supercharged, you can bet this is the reason they still chose to do it. That...plus buying a CAR instead of a car and then a supercharger kit is usually cheaper.

Why make the kit, then? Because they have nothing to lose...and only money to gain.

Plus....I have a funny feeling this is going to be popular with Corvette enthusiasts rabidly searching for Positive Displacement applications that don't require raised hoods.

And knowing it's been GM validated/tested is always a good thing. To protect themselves in OE applications, they always tend to overbuild things. This is a major plus for the person not interested in a warranty.

You may not realize this, but the ZR1 uses a raised hood, as the supercharger does NOT fit under the hood of a regular Corvette

From what I have seen, the "package" will cost around $12k, and that is before one paints their new hood... For the Camaro, there is addl. real estate underhood however, as already pointed out in this thread and others online, there is NO warranty from GM on this.

With the LS9, you are right in the assertion it has been "overbuilt" to an extent. However, if one thinks they can simply bolt this "kit" on their car and drive away with glowing success, they might be in for a wild ride - and not a positive one, as they might hope for

I did forget about that...but thinking back, I thought the hood was ornamental in that it was necessary to raise it to fit that plexiglass window in there?

No, but in terms of the assembly, it was built to GM standards, which are usually near-stupid-high. As with all FI kits, like you know yourself -- proper tuning and considerations should be made.

This is...another option, basically. It makes me glad, though, to see GMPP offering it.

No, the thin window also adds clearance over and above the taller hood on the ZR1

Absolutely! As one recent article stated, a certain package, wasn't developed at Bubba's Blower Shop

The GMPP kit is NOT what most seem to *think* it is... Results may vary
