ZL1 Blower TVS Rotors normal or abnormal wear

What do you guys think about the wear you can see in the photos of these rotors? This is 2300 miles on the stock ZL1 Eaton TVS R1900 supercharger. I know the black coating on the rotors is a graphite coating that abrades during break in and helps tighten the tolerance between the rotors, but I didn't think actually eating into the metal was part of the deal.

Some people say this is normal and others say it is not. Anyone have experience with this?

That is soft oilly black stuff. Maybe carbon and oil. Maybe a little residue from the rotor abrasion. It is not metal flakes like it looks in the photo.

That would worry me if I didn't know better. All of the various TVS blowers, GM, Magnuson, EBrock, SLP, Roush, etc have the same Eaton guts/rotor group. Just a little different packaging. I'm not going to say that they never fail....but they ALMOST never fail. It's probably nothing to worry about. I'd bet there's more of that material there in a 2500 mile blower vs a 100K mile blower. Similar to what you'd find if you cut open the oil filter at your first oil change.

It might be a good idea to take lots of pics and document what you're seeing though. Just in case.

Yeah, thats what I have been doing. I also scrapped some of that black stuff out and kept it in a container.

To me, the markings on the rotors look a little deep. What about silver specs on the front end of the lobe? Looks like something rubbed on it to cut through the black coating.
