If he didn't get an OK from you directly he never should have touched it. Thats basic respect for others property. Personally, I wouldn't even think of this as an option, I would've taken a bus, taxi, etc.

I agree, because if you forget, then you will have failed to learn the lesson and your bound to repeat it.

Wow man... I'd be seriously pissed off. I would never drive a friends car without their permission especially a high dollar brand new muscle car.

I'd be pissed at the friend, but if he was a good enough friend that you left your car with the keys with him, I'm sure you'll eventually be able to forgive and move on. It is just a car after all. (Did you ever find out whether his car actually didn't start?)
You have to look at the bright side. Based on the many paint chip complaints, you probably would have had to get the front repainted anyway. And remember, for at least the next few months, you own his ass. Just trying to cheer you up.

Time to get a new friend. 10 to 1 he lied about his car not starting, and the earlier phone call as well.
The ONLY way you come out 100% whole is to get the car fixed, trade it in on a new one, and have your "friend" pay the difference in lost value. |

Your a really good friend, I would never let my friends take mine for a drive unless I was there. Mainly for reasons you just mentioned above topic creator.

Dude that is awful, you could always say the car was "stolen" by your "friend" if you wanted to be a real ass, granted I wouldn't have the stones to do something like that, but then again who has the stones to just take their friends camaro to work, even if he did try to call he should have called a cab if he didn't get ahold of you. Some will say "it's just a car", well a cavalier is "just a car". Alot of guys around here see their 5th gen as more than that.
