Factory Paint Brand?

What brand of paint do they use in at the factory? My wife got rear ended and the body shop used Dupont after the dealer told them that's what Chevy uses but the pearl (IOM) was way off.

I've scoured the net and cant find the info anywhere, I cant be the only one to ask this.

here are all the factory color codes. shouldn't matter the brand, as long as they have the code

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82503

and it will be very hard to match any kind of metallic, btw. Even with the same paint code.

well, check the paperwork to see if they have the paint code for the paint they used. if it doesn't show, then ask them. Tell them to use the paint code in the link if it's different.

edit: and sorry about the accident. I too have a pretty bad scratch on my car from a little kid on his bike while my car was parked, less than a month after i bought the car. $850 to fix, haven't fixed it yet.

It's made by GM. Here is the info I have. Brand code 917967. OEM code 28.WA502Q.WA520Q. Description: Inferno Orange. Mixing scheme: Deltron 2000 (DBC MET). Price code Z. Don't ask me what all of that means! LOL!! Hope that helps and good luck. BTW, there is usually some difference in appearance between the plastic parts and steel parts.

Nope, she didn't even have her phone in the car had to use my wifes to call her dad, she stopped about a foot behind my wife then got pushed into her by some jerkoff who fled. 2 days with a license and she already forgot your supposed to stop far enough back to see the road under the tires.

Insurance treated as uninsured motorist too because they said they wouldn't be able to prove it in court. Had to put down $250 out of pocket

Automakers don't make paint. There is no such thing as GM paint. They're either using PPG or Dupont. I've also heard they used to use Sherman Williams, but that was back in the 90s.

That sucks, good thing the insurance company gigs us for an uninsured motorist fee so we can pay an extra $250 on top of that. Kind of like the state run ABC store selling you liquor, then throwing you into jail for drinking it.

At the dealership I was at we used Sikkens. GM gave us a kick back for using it cuz they said thats what the factory used. IOM very hard to match, there is also a similar color Chrysler uses that's even worse but it can be done. The painter just has to do alot of spray out cards.

My apologies. It said GM on the can. Hopefully that will be enough info to get the correct paint.
