How to convert DRL to hid fog lights on your RS Camaro
Ok so many of you are probably like me wanting the hid foglights on your car, but DO NOT want any silicone. Well here is what i did. feel free to modify as you see fit.
What you will need. 1) a spensersHID 5202 HID kit 2) fog light housings from a non RS camaro. 3) (this part is optional) a switch to run the fogs, or a relay to wire in. (i wired in a relay) 4) ramps or a lift to get under the car. You can follow along in the pictures below and see what i did. First notice the difference between the DRL and the Foglight housings. They will mount right up to the car, reference the picture. The first thing you will need to do is lift the car either on ramps or a lift. I did mine on ramps. You need to remove the black ring that encases the DRL housing. It just snaps in, you can see the way it snaps in when you look under the car. Its pretty easy to get off. Second you will need to squeeze the 3 clips that hold the DRL housing on. Yes the housings just snap in, next disconnect the bulb and do whatever you want with the DRL housing. Next install your 5202 HID bulb in the non RS foglight housing, and then snap the new housing in and reinstall the black ring. Now you need to get back under the car and mount your ballast and connect your bulbs. Now you get to the optional part. I decided i did not want an aftermarket switch in my car so i tapped into my halos. I used the halo wire to trigger a relay, so they dont take the extra pull of the HID system. The hids run off their own power supplied by the battery. But if you decide you want a switch, by all means wire one in. Its your car. I just wanted to share this so no one silicones their beautiful Camaro. Hope this helps guys. Any questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

when I get mine I want to be able to run the fogs with the headlights (dont want the hids because i am putting yellow tint over the fogs)... can a shop rewire them easily and cheaply? and do I have to have the non rs housings?

You can just use your current lights and wire in a switch. That wouldnt be that hard.

how much were the housings??
If I wanted to just run LED 5202,is the harness for the 5202 available to be bought as well? I noticed that black and red wires that run out of one of the housings, is that the DRL housing?

no the black and red wires were the hid 5202 bulbs i had already placed in the fog light housing. The housings are $100 each. Yes the harness for the 5202 can be bought, but you will need to wire it in yourself.

So that's HID bulbs in a non-projector housing? Isn't that going to blind people?

no it doesnt because the fog lights aim down low. They only throw light out about 10-15 feet in front of the car. I have actually had people tell me its easier on the eyes than the standard halogens.

its the black wire on the top of the pigtail as you disconnect it from the halo on the drivers side. (pink on passenger). I just used a t-tap connector on the wire to trigger the relay. Im not sure if there is a fuse for the halos alone or not.

I was curious where you got the t-tap and what the model number is. So I know what to look for when I do mine. Thanks
