Short shifting, I'm surprised. Any logs that show actual shift completion RPM?

I wouldnt call it short shifting. Why would I shift past the peak of my power band? I start losing power at 6000 rpms...doesnt make sense to keep going does it?

If it will make you feel better I am sure I can find someone with a GOpro or something to mount on my helmet or something to prove to you and anyone else who thinks this is fraud...

Oh know I'm a believer for sure, most guys use the gear multiplication and extend the shifts. You know the old philosophy of the previous gear puts down more power even after peak because of gear multiplication.

I dyno'd my car with this setup that I ran and my peak power...wheel and all. I just run it to my peak and use that gear to keep me pulling after shifts. I have run my car 50 times with similar setups and atleat 20 recently but have had horrible weather days and horrible track prep days. Ive played with shifting all the way between 5600 and 6400..to find the sweet spot where it keeps up the most. I have found it best my limit is roughly 6100. So when I see my tach at 5800, I shift. I think it is about time to invest in a shift light.

You shifting philosophy is the same as mine: you don't want the RPM's to drop after a shift to your peak HP and then start dropping. You want it to stay in the "hump" of the curve. With an A6, I can program that, and when I was bolt-on, I "short" shifted also (~6000).

But now that I have my cam that pulls all the way to 7000, you can bet I'm revving to the limiter!

When you get your cam, you'll be able to do the same and with your driving, it's going to be tough to keep up with you.

Good info, definitely need a light with that quick 1-2 shift. I've also played with the sweet spot and my car was fastest at 6400-6500. I changed a couple things and plan on tinkering with the shift times again. I sure do wish I could get some of that good air. My last time at the track it pulled a 12.1 @111 in 3600 DA. Maybe I should drive to an open sea level track LOL.

You would have to shift near 7000 in a non cammed car to be on the other side of the power curve. In an A6 it's all dependent on the stall of the converter. The looser the converter the lower you can shift. The stock converter is soo tight it requires an extended shift to maximize power. I believe Number 9 was shifting at 6700 when he ran the 11.7.

Thanks! Trust me, I cant wait to get a cam in my car. Ill definitely have to do some more driving to adjust where it runs best. Cam looks like it may be a few month down the road so you have time
