z28.Muscle car or not?
Was jus' wonderin'.Will the new Z28 still fall into the common perception of a muscle car should it be a V6 .From what i am reading I understand it could well be a twin turbo V6.Being a brit and currently owning a 1ss i need to consider my next purchase well in advance and i'm not sure if i want a 'small muscle' car,as no matter how many BHP it has,if its a V6 it wont be or soundlike an '8' or a true Muscle Car.
Thoughts please. |

I would SERIOUSLY doubt it will be a V-6.

I would be shocked if a new fifth gen. Z/28 came out with any configuration of a V6. While there has been no "official" word from Chevy, there have been ample hint's that the most likely engine will be a version of the 550+ HP LSA engine in the Cadillac CTS-V. My personal choice would be something other than that, but I can live with the LSA choice (I couldn't live with any V6 version at this time).

The Camaro falls under the muscle car category. So I guess a 1st gen Z28 Camaro is not a muscle car? Makes no sense to me.

Not a chance it will be a V6. However just because a badass car has a V6 in it does not automatically kick it out of the muscle car group. Try telling the Grand National that it is not a muscle car.

Is the camaro a muscle car or a pony car? there is a difference. . .and well. . .IMHO it's a pony car simple as that.

Heres my .2 if the car has a v8, has that unique rumble coming from the exhaust and it has the "Z28" designation or even "SS" hell even regardless of the trim level most people or at least car enthusiasts know it as a muscle car especially the Z28 and I think that is pretty much all over the world...now if the new Z28 comes in packing a twin turbo v6, has a lighter frame and can handle curves like a king all this while maintaining more or less the same appearance then MAYBE it will start being considered a sports car, regardless if it has four seats or that it has never been looked at as a sports car..got off point here, simply if it has the HP and TQ to compete with other brutes then hell yes it's a muscle car.

Don't Like it? Suggit.

If it becomes a V6, it will fall under the "dead-to-me" category.
