Yeah... Wrong.... that just means no RS it is not possible to tell 1SS or 2SS from that picture. On a side note that is an impressive wheelie.

This is my '72 Monte Carlo. It was powered by a 454 BBC making about 600 HP backed by a Turbo 400 tranny. It weighed about 3200 lbs. It had a ladder bar rear suspension and stock front suspension. It normally pulled the front wheels at least a foot on every launch. I raced this car for 18 years. The key to wheelies is weight distribution and suspension settings.

Do you still have it? That is a sweet ride!

and his dealer said he still has his powertrain warranty (as long as it stays on the shop floor where they took it out).

Looks great!
I had a 76 Pontiac Grand Prix street car with a bored out 455 with all the internals at 650 hp, along with a Turbo 400 with 3500 stall converter. If conditions were just right and it hooked, I could do the same. Lots of fun.

No, sold the Monte Carlo and bought the S-10 that's in my profile pic. I bought the S-10 from John Lingenfelter. He raced it as the Summit-sponsored NHRA Pro Stock Truck with a 358 CI SB2 engine and a 6-speed MT. I raced it with a BBC (454 from my Monte originally, and eventually a 555) and a Powerglide tranny. It was an awesome ride. I raced for 25 years (18 years in the Monte, 7 in the S-10) and had a great time.

I don't think so. RS package = colored roof ditch moulding.

We didn't take it the wrong way, but unless you have been inside this car, you don't know what add on's they have. I agree since they did not get RS package and they are racing it that it, it is most likely a 1SS.
