Received Monday. Maybe in the future will replace one key but not both. I like my switchblade. Aren't we also expecting a recall on a loose seat bolt?

Dave,

You got two, for two great looking cars; the original look, and the personal transformation of the present.

However, the notice i got told me the issue was the possibility of bumping into the key with your knee and thus moving the key away from the run position
That was the Cobalt,G5,Solstice and Sky among others, totally different recall.

Our issue is you "might" bump the key fob with your knee and shut your car off.

Not likely but a recall is a recall to your insurance company and the government

Could your insurance cancel you for not doing it?

I know I can't sell or trade my car until its done but I like my bayonet

So keep it if you like it. Car insurance doesn't have any idea what you are or are not doing. Now if you have an accident DUE TO THE KEY FOB... then yeah, maybe you will have an issue. Calculate your chances of that, and then make your own decision in life.

I am getting one key fob changed, they will give me 2 keys one without a fob.

That way if I don't like it I still have an original.

I didn't tell them that.

So I spoke to the service manager at my GM dealership and she confirmed with me that we can absolutely opt-out of the recall.

She will let me know if there is anything I need to sign or not but this is NOT mandatory.

Try telling that to your insurance company when they wave that signed waiver/release in your face and tell you your cancelled.

Maybe I am paranoid but if you get cancelled try getting new insurance at a reasonable price.
