2010 Camaro V6 vs. 1988 IROC-Z28 Camaro 350
Who would win this? Both cars are bone stock and both cars are healthy/maintained.
I'm interested in answers/opinions on a street/strip dual out races. This should be fun, thanks for answering.

agree with DG
love iroc-z's, had one motortrend: "best handling American Car" 3 years in a row i believe... 1988 was either the start or finish of the 3

Well from what I've heard the V6 Camaros are mid-low 14s, and the 350 IROCs are around there too. Whoever gets the better launch I suppose. It should be a good race.
Now if you had an 305 TBI in that thing, it might be a different story. |

So, I'm guessing the fact that the new Camaro V6's have about 250rwhp stock vs. the 350's having 190-200rwhp stock, makes no real dent in the race? I guess in my mind a 350 would get the jump (both stock remember) and stay ahead till about 30-40mph and then the Camaro V6 would take the lead and kill it. That was my thinking. Is that about right guys?

Does he have an auto in the 6? You have to remember the IROC probably weighs about 400 lbs less too. I think it would be a close race. I'd like to see the outcome.

That IROC is also over 20 years old now. No matter how well its been maintained, it isn't going to be running as strong as it used to, unless the engine has recently been rebuilt.
And don't race on the street ...

This is a hypothetical thread, I don't know anyone with a stock IROC or a stock new Camaro V6/V8. I thought it'd be a good thread to post because I don't think anyone else has asked. I am still interested in seeing more answers and I'm not really surprised that most of you'll think the V6 would win. I do too.

Yeah, the Camaro has that automatic 6 speed. I think they all do right? The IROC 350 in 1988 weighed 3,350lbs. without driver or half a tank of gas. The new Camaro's weigh around 3,800lbs. without a driver/gas.

I think an Accord V6 from 8 years or so ago would be a better matchup IMO, but even then the IROC would still lose...

Stock for stock, yeah, a better match-up and the IROC would kill the Accord from 8 years ago. Today's Accord is a different story on the top RPM area. Lower the IROC still rules.
