Replace 2011 steering wheel

Hi everyone,

I have been searching for days if this is possible and what is involved with no luck. Maybe you guys can help.

I am wanting to replace my 2011 2ss steering wheel with a 2012. Does the airbag need to be programed by the dealer or is it just plug and play?

Thanks for the help.

The airbag might be a different shape. Ask your dealer for the airbag part no# for the two years. If they are different...

I currently have the round airbag and the 2012 is the triangle shaped one. So, I guess just the reprogramming part is all that will need to be done.

Well yes, you have to buy the new airbag.

Not sure. You'll find out once you install it though. If the airbag light comes on than it needs to be reprogrammed.

hey dude, find some who wants to trade with you, I'm sure there are plenty with 2012's who will decide they like the old wheel better..... maybe get the dealership to do the whole swap on both cars since you'll be saving a boat load of money anyway not having to buy anything,

but first make sure it's even possible,

They may have added buttons in 2012 and then ofcourse it may totally not work. so First check pictures to see if any of the buttons changed between years,

if the buttons are exactly the same and they didnt add any airbags between the years I dont understand why it wold need reprogrammed, all airbags shoudl pretty much work the same right?

And let us know what you find because we like to have this kind of stuff on record.

No reprogramming needed. This is a plug and play swap.

Yes. But you would need to go to your dealer and have them reset the airbag code.
