I'm 23 and just financed a 2014 white SS/RS. Love the car but when I reach 40 mph + the outside wind causes a whistle noise on the car. It's loud. It sucks. Beware!

I don't think age should matter if you can afford the car.

I also think what a lot of people are hating on is that a younger person has a more expensive car than they do and they've worked their whole lives while a 16-17 year old has barely lived life vs. a 40 year old.

Playing devil's advocate, MOST younger kids that do buy their own cars have some assistance and are not doing it on their own steam. I.E. You still live at home with your parents (When you own your own home your mortage is a large chunk of change) However, if your only financial responsibility is say, your car and cell phone bill, yes, you can afford one.

In chicago, a 16 or 17 year old is not making enough cash to afford a $60,000 car, truth be told. There is help coming from somewhere, and while the young car owner may not think it or agree with it, but, not paying rent/mortgage allows you to pay for your 700-800 dollar car payment. Also, under 18 and you cannot buy a car here, so, again, your parents are helping if they are cosigning it and registering it under their name, same goes with the insurance.

No matter, I've known a few kids that were cocky and had a chip on their shoulder, but, it really depends on the person, not the age of the person.

Hell, when I was 15, I lived at home and had a 2002 M3. Granted, I was kicking out over 70 hours a week working on a hospital racking in over $1,500 a week, maintaining my grades and athletics at the same time. I also gave my parents $800 a month to help with bills and paid for my own insurance, phone, internet, etc.

It's possible, but, far from the norm.

I'm 24 and been involved with the car scene since I was about 16, some before that with my Dad and Uncle but actually driving to meets/shows/etc... with MY own car it was 16. Anywho, age really isn't important to me. If you love cars and are interesting plus not an entitled prick, I'll talk to you.

Everybody has their own stories to tell. I started and still run a Pontiac club and it's pretty interesting what the older guys have to tell about Pontiac in it's prime, same goes for the few Camaro meets I've been to. Younger guys are a bit more in your face/cause drama sometimes which I do not like at all but I guess you could say that about any age group.

A person with a job can borrow up to where the payments are about 1/3 of their take home pay. Whether that is spent on a car, house, education is up to them, but 2 of the 3 actually pay a return instead of depreciating in value.
