Bummed - missed the winter order cutoff

Test drove a Camaro one weekend. go back the next to order a ZL1 (want a factory fresh one) and of course I miss the order cutoff by a few days.

Have to wait until February now.

Is it really because of the tires?

I mean I'll take it with snow tires and buy another set in the spring.

Crazy. Never seen a company try so hard to not take my money. First with the vette and now this.

Yes...
But we haven't made any auto trans. in 3 weeks now unless every one is ordering Manual trans. So maybe GM is not taking any chances with the tires. Mine was made last year at this time.

It is not that GM does not want your money, it is the fact that the tires become to brittle to function when the temperature is below 20F. They will get damaged just moving around at the factory in the Canadian winter. Legally, since the car was validated, engineered, and advertised with these tires, hM had to sell it with those tires.

Nobody ever accused GM of incredible foresight.

Guess they don't make enough to warrant a second tire choice. Does anyone know how long it takes to get one after order?

That's good news then - Feb 11 plus six weeks is beginning of April so should be able to drive it home.

Had a 1967 RS that needed work. Cousin been bothering me for it for years so let him have it. Was trying to get the space in the garage filled quickly and have something to wax for the winter. Gives me time to clean up I guess.

OK - it's late and I'm in no mood.

So - do you want us to COMPROMISE the performance of the ZL1 and 1LE by changing the tires?

We could by substituting different tires - but we are not going to compromise.........and that's why we posted that we would suspend production...and WHY we would...........

Foresight has nothing to do with it. We could simply do what we did last year - build 'em and let 'em sit............that isn't a good idea.

Sorry to be a bit snarky - but comments like this really bother me as it implies that Team Camaro is clueless - and I beg to differ......

Just keep doing what you've been doing building awesome cars. They are so worth the wait.

Can't win either way. Build them and let them sit and they will complain. Don't build them and still they complain.

Just get one from a dealer. They are all over the place. Help keep production numbers down.
