4th gen, 5th gen poll
As we know the 4th gen didn't sell to good and it was on pause after 2002 for what ever reasons and now in 2009 the new camaro will come. SOME of the 4th gens cons of selling were becuase it was not advertised much, much pricer than its competition, and was small for drivers with a family, there isn't much room in the back seats. The 5th gen is almost here and it seems to have a bit more room than the 4th gen and has been advertised in a big budget movie and is much "beefier" than the 4th gen. Seems to me that the 4th gens selling problems were taking care of. Do u guys think that the 5th gen will have more sales than the 4th gen. There is more competition than 1998, way more, but the 5th gen also has features that dominate. Will it sell more than the 4th gen? Lets hear your opinion!

WHAT?!?! You have to ask this?!?! hehehe
Of course it will sell more than the 4th Gen. The 4th Gen's #'s were waaaaay low..... and when GM did a poll on this new car, they actually had................drumroll please..... 600,000 people actually say they wanted a Camaro. Now......how many years do you think GM will be selling this Camaro to get all those people thier cars.... I even think a 3rd shift might come on line. |

sales #'s for the Camaro toward the end of it's run.
2001 #'s were somewhere around 29,000 2002 was something like 45,000 and GM wants to sell 80 to 100,000 Camaros per year. Sales toward the end of the 4th Gens existence weren't all that great so yes...I believe there will be NO problem w/ GM selling everything they build....as they try to push out as many as possible for those 600,000 who want them. |

My estimate, if the camaro is going for 5 years in the market before they come out with somthing else, i would say in 5 years the camaro will sell about 300,000-500,000 units. And the chevy site says the camaro sold 53,000 camaros for the 1998-2002 model

That's cool, ya I want the same color and stripes on my new Camaro
The dealership in Fredericksburg, Virginia wants to put a 67, 68, 69 and the new Camaro in the showroom, I'm going by there this weekend to see if I can get my 68 in there next to the new one. If that happens, I will be sure to take a lot of photo's |

Hell yes it will sell more. Easily 80% of all the people I know want one, not everyone wants a V8 but then again the V6 will be no slouch. This car will sell A LOT.

It really all depends on the pricing. If...and a big if...they price it right, it will sell better than anything out right now in its class. Everyone wants one, but the questions becomes, can everyone afford one? I think if the V6 starts at more than 22k and the V8 more than 28-29k, then they will be in for a fight like before. Before everyone starts laughing about 28k SS, here is my point: The people on this forum and enthusiasts will buy one for a little more, because they have a passion for it. For the average person that wants a sports/muscle car, they might go with a mustang or something else. Just MVHO of course.

In an entry level market (and I know these aren't aveos, but even an entry level sports car market is an entry level market) price is king. Most of Camaro's buyers will not be middle aged enthusiasts who know what the better car is. They'll be high school and college kids who want a great looking and sounding car (and all three are good looking in their own right) and will only look at two things - price, and 1/4 mile, in that order. - Xanthos

I think the 5th gen will blow away any sales numbers that the 4th gen put up for the simple fact of such a powerful base V6 model. The biggest problem I had with the 4th gens was the 160 - 200 HP the V6's had. I know of a lot of folks who wanted to get a Camaro but didn't because of V8 cost and lack of power in the V6.

Well, a 200 hp V6 in 1996 wasn't too bad.
I think you might as well look in a crystal ball to forecast the auto industry. It's also doubtful the 5th gen will last 10 years, like the 4th. |
